Be an Intern

Interns at Equality Virginia will have the opportunity to partner with community organizations and Equality Virginia coalition partners in building awareness and visibility for GLBT issues on the ground.
We are currently only able to accept interns through school credit courses.
DUTIES
Interns for Equality Virginia will work in EV's Richmond office for 10-20 hours a week. Duties vary, but can include:
- Working during and after the General Assembly session to monitor legislation and create documents to be used by members throughout the year such as Supporting Equality Virginia’s Annual Meeting and Activists conference by assisting with recruitment, planning, and communication activities.
- Participating in the Annual Commonwealth Dinner, EV’s largest fundraiser with over 1000 guests.
- Attending and representing EV at our other fundraising and community/outreach events-from pride festivals to local house party fundraisers.
EV staff will meet with intern candidates to help determine specific interests, skills, and goals to define individual workplans.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines, and desire to be a self-starter.
- Knowledge of, and commitment to, gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender issues.
- Ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ages, ethnicities, sexual orientations, and gender identities. #
- Desire to hold leadership in progressive and/or GLBT communities.
