Media Center

You do not have to be an expert on media relations to help shape the debate and put the issues of fairness and equality front and center in the discussion about creating a better Virginia.

Newspapers, television news, and the internet have an amazing power to shape public opinion.  If our voices aren't included in those forums, our visibility is diminished.  By telling our stories and sharing our opinions, we can bring about a better understanding of the GLBT community and of us as individuals.

What you can do:

Monitor your local newspapers, blogs and television outlets for coverage of the GLBT communities, both supportive and not.  Report anti-gay rhetoric to Equality Virginia staff at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
For a newspaper story, write a brief response (generally 250 words or less), explaining your opinion on the story.  Use EV's issue papers (in the left hand "Issues" section of the page) to help you frame the issue.  Contact the EV office with questions.

Let us know if the letter is printed! Write This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
