  • Tammy Baldwin was elected the first openly gay senator in U.S. history.
  • Maine and Maryland became the first states to affirm equality with a public vote become the seventh and eighth states to allow marriage.
  • Washington is projected to join Maine and Maryland in allowing all couples to wed.
  • Minnesota voted against Amendment 1 that would have defined marriage between one man and one woman.
  • And…President Obama, the first president to support marriage equality, is re-elected.
