John Osterhout

John Osterhout is a PPK-18 educator who has worked in the classroom or library for 36 years. His passions include youth literacy and social justice. He is a Virginia Education Association, Leader for Equity and Justice, and has led LGBTQ+ awareness workshops across the Commonwealth. He is the former president of Hampton Roads Pride and currently serves on the board of Equality Virginia. He is also proud to serve on the advisory board of Pickadilly Specialties Corporation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, which is responsible for the LGBTQ+ educational board game called Rainbow Quest. In addition, John was honored by Equality Virginia as an Outstanding Virginian in 2020. John and his husband Ron Newman live in Norfolk VA and will celebrate their 32nd anniversary In June.
