Equality Virginia 2026 Legislative Communications Internship

2026 is a critical moment for LGBTQ+ rights in Virginia: Equality Virginia is coordinating grassroots lobbying and legislator education for a diverse slate of LGBTQ+ affirming bills in the General Assembly. In order to support this mission, we are offering an 8-week Spring internship to provide meaningful learning opportunities to those interested in further developing their strategic communications and social media management skills.

We’re hiring a creative, engaged Communications Intern to support content creation, storytelling, and digital outreach during the 2026 legislative session. You’ll work directly with our Director of Communications to help shape the digital strategy that moves people to action on social media, on camera, and on the ground.

Location:  Remote/Hybrid (Must be Richmond-based) with occasional travel for events.

In order to support this mission, we are offering an 8-week Legislative Advocacy internship to provide meaningful learning opportunities to those interested in further developing their strategic legislative advocacy skills. 

We’re hiring a creative, engaged Advocacy Intern to support bill tracking, material development, and legislator meeting prep during the 2026 legislative session. You’ll work directly with our Executive Director to help ensure Equality Virginia’s legislative priorities take center stage during the legislative session..
